I have never owned a Chinese Crested I have always thought he was just an absolutely adorable dog because he is so different. ¿Really love to hear someone who currently or at one point in time has owned one? ¿There's a rescue group in my area that has many up for adoption, is seriously considering? Thanks Rick and kimbeeJ! This is a pic of the little person that I am interested in; http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=12163310

Wow, Chinese Crested…they are a different little dog. Don’t know much about them but I have heard that they make great pets for apartment life and because they are stealth, they are and awsome agility dog, good luck
Thumbs up for considering adoption it the way to go….
Cranberry Dog’s Chinese Cresteds
I have a friend who showed/bred her Hairless and my bother owns 2 of the powderpuff variety. They are fun, sweet, active dogs. The hairless are prone to sunburn and acne, also very bad dental disease. I think they’re cute too.

Just remember that they sweat and require sunscreen in the summer and a warm coat in the winter (unless you live in like california or florida or something).

I own one, and I’ve owned a few other puffs and hairless before.
The hairless need alot of skin care to prevent acne, sunburn, blackheads, dry skin, and other infections and irritations.
They have a very childlike personality and are affectionate. They are not, in general, overly friendly with strangers, but should not be aggressive.
They are quiurky little dogs. They are emotionally needy.. and difficult to housebreak. If they are not happy about something, they ussually leave the message somewhere for you to find! Honestly, I dont know many that are completely housebroken.. I cant even say that mine is. Many of them that I know wear belly bands.
The hairless vary in amount of body hair.. a “true” hairless has little to no body hair, but they do not have the flashy mane and socks like you see in the show ring.. a moderate hairless has a strip of hair down the back, and up the legs.. all the way up to a “hairy” hairless, which is almost completely covered in a fine, single layer of hair. Show dogs are often moderate to hairy and shaved down. Shaving is optional for a pet, but something to keep in mind.. if you want the hairless look, you will have to commit to shaving and stubbles, or find a true hairless.
Puffs have a complete double coat of hair… some people shave their puffs down because its easier to keep them groomed, expecially in the summer.
Hairless also have dental issues. In fact, missing teeth are acceptable in the show ring. The hairless teeth are not as well formed, and the roots are not as deep. Puffs have “normal” teeth.
They are prone to a host of health issues, dry eye, PRA, closed ear canal (in some lines), allergies, luxating patella, legges perthe, and I’ve heard of a few with thyroid problems. They are also prone to vaccine reactions.
